Stand United against poverty through a Major Gift
Major Gifts help fuel United Way’s work, tackling local poverty and the forces that create it.
Through a Major Gift of $10,000 or more to United Way Greater Toronto, you help ensure that our friends and neighbours across Peel, Toronto and York Region can access programs and services to meet urgent needs – including food, housing and mental health supports – while working to build strong neighbourhoods that provide affordable housing, access to good jobs and opportunities for all.
The Benefits of Major Giving
As Major Gift donor, we will keep you updated on the work you make possible. You will:
- Be connected to a philanthropy officer who will provide an in-depth look at the impact of your gift in the community and help you reach your philanthropic goals
- Receive invitations to special events to learn and see firsthand the issues faced in the community and how your support is making a difference
- Have the opportunity to take part in volunteer opportunities out in the community
- Be included in our annual Major Gifts Honour Roll booklet, in print and online
Your gift. Greater impact.
This year, your gift to United Way Greater Toronto can go even further, thanks to the Donald K. Johnson Major Gift Challenge Grant*. Make your first gift of $10,000+ and your gift will be matched, doubling your impact. If you gave a major gift last year, any increase to your gift this year will be matched. As we work to tackle poverty across Peel, Toronto and York Region, your dollars will have an even greater impact on our community.
“I believe that we all have a responsibility to support the communities within which we live and work, and United Way does just that. This was ingrained in me growing up in a small community where we all took care of one another. Through the Donald K. Johnson Major Gift Challenge Grant, I hope to inspire others to help United Way address both ongoing and emerging community needs. United we can end poverty.”
– Donald K. Johnson, O.C.
*The Donald K. Johnson Major Gift Challenge Grant applies to gifts over $10,000 made to United Way Greater Toronto (not designated to other charities), to a maximum of $1 million. Gifts must be made by December 31, 2024.
Paul J. Bradley, Northleaf Capital Operating Partner, United Way donorAs a volunteer and donor for decades, I have seen the impact of United Way first-hand. No organization is better positioned to help ensure this place we love, our own community, our own backyard, emerges better and stronger – for all.
